Wadowice
This is where it all started
A city in southern Poland, in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, it is the seat of the Wadowice County and the Wadowice Urban-Rural Commune. It is located in the western part of the Silesian Foothills, and in the southern part in the Little Beskids, on the Skawa River. The city, first mentioned in 1325, was initially a small town, but from the late 18th century, with the construction of the Central Galician Route connecting Lviv with Vienna, and the relocation of the Wadowice District seat by the Austrian authorities, it began to develop more rapidly. Currently, as the hometown of Pope John Paul II, it is an important pilgrimage center.
