Zakopane

The capital of the Polish Tatra Mountains

Zakopane is a city in southern Poland, in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, and the seat of Tatra County. The largest town in the immediate vicinity of the Tatra Mountains, it is a major winter sports center, colloquially known as the winter capital of Poland. The Tatra Mountains are the highest mountain range within Poland and the highest massif in the Carpathian Mountains. They are approximately 60 km long and 15 to 20 km wide.
